The Caribbean Comes to MERIDA / El Caribe Llega a Merida
In this exhibition are select fine artists and photographers from Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Colombia, and Merida. This art show celebrates the creativity of the Caribbean, and introduces Caribbean art to Merida.
This exhibition will showcase the creativity, color, and vitality of the art produced by Caribbean artists, and give an insight into the similarities and differences of the Caribbean region with the Yucatán.
ARTISTS: Art By Jennylynd James, Tiffany Lukawski, Mica Marsh, Juliet Thorburn, Anna-Maria Dickinson, Anika Plowden-Corentin, Joy Luk Pat - Artist, Tracey Alonzo, Deborah Clement, Felipe Correa, y Saul Sotelo.
The exhibition will launch on Saturday 13th May during La Noche Blanca. La Noche Blanca is a city-wide celebration of the Arts organised by Merida es Cultura. All art galleries in Merida will be open from 8:00 pm until the wee hours of the morning for visitors.
We will have a Trinidad and Tobago Carnival costume on display and a display showing excerpts from the 2023 Trinidad Carnival.
At 9:00pm we are having a fashion show to showcase creative painted Caribbean fabrics. Dance to the beats of DJ Clovis live from 8:00p. m. until midnight.
Visitors to the exhibition will also have the opportunity to experience Caribbean music such as Soca, Calypso, Dance Hall Reggae, Zouk, and Cadence; and savour typical Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago appetizers.
